Pastor Kim Payne, who mainly grew up in North Carolina and Virginia with 3 years in Heidelberg, Germany thrown in, is a proud Army brat and a country boy at heart. He is a Youth Ministry veteran and has been at Grace for over 20 years.

He has been married for 39 years to his wife Becky, who is a native of Columbia, SC. He has a daughter and son-in-law (currently located in Fort Mill, SC) and four grandmammals: Chewy, Beckham Campbell, Fionna Everly, and Riggins Stanley. Only he knows who the favorite is.

His previous service was in churches in St. Louis, Mo; Columbia, SC; Irmo, SC; Ft. Myers, FL; and Wheaton, MD.

His heart is for the family and to see God’s truth applied to every area of life. His ministry is that of teaching and encouragement.

Education:
Columbia International University with a B.S. in Christian Ed.
Covenant Theological Seminary with an M.Div.
Reformed Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Counseling.

Pastor Kim’s teaching has been characterized as “Meat and Potatoes”. With the Bible as the foundation, he teaches from his heart and his own journey of life. In that, he strives to bring the Word of God to bear on himself and his congregation.

Humor and laughing, music, fishing and other outdoor activities are activities he enjoys. Books are a passion and he reads a great deal.  He has also started a butterfly garden outside his office window and delights in the variety of butterflies and Hummingbird visits.

He has a nice collection of antique books some of which date into the early 1700’s.  Most of them are theological works.

The people of the congregation have often expressed gratitude that he doesn’t put himself above them but shares the struggles of life with its complexities, challenges, hurts, joys and victories. Together they are learning to live in God’s grace and mercy.

Kim has been blessed with an Elvis sighting at the local Sam’s Club which nearly resulted in an accident. He promises he was not into the communion wine beforehand.
